Veronica Sanchez joined 12 News in April 2004 as a general assignment reporter.
Veronica's story begins with determination.Her parents wanted their children to experience the American Dream so they immigrated to Watsonville, California from Mexico in the 1960's.They worked in the strawberry fields so Veronica and her two sisters could go to school.From their parents' example, the children learned the value of hard work and to have pride in everything they do.
Veronica's interest in news began in college where she wrote for the school newspaper.She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and Journalism and Chicano Latino studies at Fresno State University.

Veronica began her career anchoring and reporting at a radio station in Fresno, California.Her television opportunity came when the news director from the sister station heard Veronica's unique voice.He offered her a contract at KMPH-TV where she stayed for 2 ½ years.In Fresno, she made her mark covering the Yosemite murders.Before joining the 12 News team, Veronica worked at KTNV-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada.Major stories included the Roy Horn tiger attack and the Bellagio power outage.
Veronica loves Arizona's weather and the characteristics of the cactuses.She is a member of The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ).Veronica believes in giving back to the community and enjoys talking to children about the value of education.
When Veronica is not working, she enjoys traveling, working out, reading and making a mean Mexican salsa.
