Sanchez has extensive experience in law enforcement

    Daily News Staff Report

Capt. Trisha Sanchez has been promoted to assistant sheriff, and will begin her new post July 1, San Mateo County Sheriff Greg Munks announced Tuesday.
    ...
Sanchez will replace current Assistant Sheriff Greg Trindle, who is retiring at the end of this month.
    ...
As assistant sheriff, Sanchez will be responsible for detention operations as well as the new Jail Planning Unit. She will report directly to Undersheriff Carlos Bolanos.

"Trisha Sanchez has a combination of experience and leadership qualities that will make her a great assistant sheriff," Munks said.

While working full-time as a patrol deputy covering Redwood City, East Palo Alto, Woodside and the coast, Sanchez attended school and earned both a bachelor's degree in management and a master's degree in leadership.

Given her diverse interests, Sanchez worked in specialized units including the traffic investigation team, the cliff rescue unit and the sheriff's ceremonial unit. After three years she became a detective working the general crimes unit.Continuing her rise up the ranks to sergeant and then lieutenant, she became commander of the detective bureau.

She was then appointed to command the county's narcotics and vehicle theft task force. In 2003, she was promoted to captain and her most recent assignment was to command the operations and investigations divisions.

Sanchez comes to law enforcement with a historic lineage.

The sheriff's office has also tried to hold inmates accountable and involve them to make the jail more environmentally friendly, Assistant Sheriff Trisha Sanchez said.
    ...
Sanchez said efforts to get inmates to "go green" have been successful but that not all inmates are on board.

"A lot these things we strive to work toward solving them, but again, some of these issues are not uncommon in a jail facility," Sanchez said.

Goltz said the occasional inmate misstep does not merit the county paying the $5,000 a day penalty, which he said could amount to millions of dollars.

    let me know your thoughts

Trisha Sanchez would be an excellent choice, and very fitting as a replacement for Munks in view of the fact that Munks was caught at a place where women are routinely degraded.

Trisha Sanchez, better for the women and children of San Mateo County

I think having Trisha Sanchez as Sheriff would be better for the women in our jails and the children in Hillcrest ... Safer at least.

Also she has experience arresting our County Manager at an Adult Bookstore only to have our District Attorney James P. Fox fail to do the job he was elected to do and lie about it later to reporter Jean Whitney.

She knows what it is like to see corruption in San Mateo County and not be able to do anything about it.

Lets find out if she is interested.
