Mr. Richard Ray Sanchez

In addition to the annual change of the guard from outgoing chamber chairman Dr. Richard Sanchez to Dr. Linda Timmerman, the 2007 chamber president, a number of awards will be presented to community members and businesses.

Much of Thursday's meeting revolved around the proposed by-law changes developed by chamber chairman Dr. Richard Sanchez and chamber director Paul Hooper.

Sanchez was out of town and not present at the board meeting.

One of the stated goals of Dr. Richard Sanchez, this year's chamber chairman, was to improve member services.

Mr. Sanchez graduated from Albuquerque's Rio Grande High School and then went on to play college football in Colorado and graduated from the University of New Mexico where he received his degree in International Studies.After a short stint in the Armed Services he returned home and entered the land development business.His company San Ray Construction is involved in infrastructure and home development.His most recent developments include two subdivisions Sunset West and Sunset Farms located in Albuquerque.Mr. Sanchez was elected to the House of Representatives from 1990 to 1996.Committee assignments included Vice Chairman of Government and Urban Affairs, Business and Industry, Agriculture, Transportation, Labor, and the Legislative Council.He helped re-start Boy Scout Troop 212 after a 30 year hiatus.Member of the South Valley Chamber, Hispano Chamber, Albuquerque, New Mexico, New Mexico Home Builders Association, Associated Builders and Contractors INC.Rio Grande Chapter, Mr. Sanchez is also active in the formation of Ranchitos de los Ninos a home for children 0-18.
