  2006-07: After beginning the season in Moncton, Samson was traded to the Val d'Or Foreurs in December of 2006.He earned honors as the QMJHL Offensive Player of the Week in January 2007 for a 9 point performance in 3 games.Named the QMJHL played of the month for January 2007 for tallying a total 26 points (17 goals, 19 assists) in 13 games and putting together a 10 game goal scoring streak.He totaled 99 points (44 goals, 55 assists) in 71 games with 36 penalty minutes and a +3 rating.23 of his goals came on the power play.
  
  2007-08: The Hurricanes made a smart move by signing the undrafted Samson prior to the season.In his first pro season, Samson was among the team's top goal scorers with 21 tallies and by adding 18 assists finished fifth on the River Rats in scoring with 39 points in 65 games.Like many Carolina players and prospects, Samson's season was interrupted by injury, but he did play in the postseason, scoring a goal and adding an assist in seven games with Albany.

  River Rats winger Jerome Samson knotted the game at 2-2 when his power play scorcher bounced off of the cross-bar, off of the back of Phantoms goalie Jean-Sebastien Aubin and into the goal; rookie Nick Dodge and defenseman Noah Babin assisted on Samson's 19th of the year and third in as many games.

Samson's consistency was epitomized by his seven-game point streak (9 points) to finish the month, passing All-Star Michael Ryan for the longest River Rats point streak of the 2008-09 season.
