James Samford grew up in the southwest Georgia town of Albany , where his family still resides.He graduated from Georgia Military Academy in College Park , Georgia , and earned a BA degree from Auburn University in Auburn , Alabama.

He has lived in Duluth , Georgia , for 10 years with his wife , Rebecca , and their 3 children.He is a national account manager with an international staffing agency and is the current chairman of Sugar Hill Housing Authority.
