Spring Hill fire attorney Andrew Salzman said he was unaware of the term expiration and was surprised people are quick to accuse him and the fire board of the oversight.
"People qualify for elections through the (county), not through districts," he said."I've never been involved in the election side."
Salzman refused to accept blame for the snafu, if Perreira is found to have been sitting on the board wrongfully.
...
District attorney Salzman, who has been vocally opposed to Dupre's involvement during recent meetings, said it was ironic how the county is insisting it is the district's responsibility to resolve the Perreira matter.
"They want to handle all of these other things and yet they don't want to handle this?"he asked.
Morrison said he thinks the issue will ultimately be resolved by the lawyers, but added no one with the county or district did anything "grossly negligent."
"I think everyone needs to take a deep breath," he said.
