'But the moment the eunuchs went to stay there, local residents protested,' said Pratap Sahu, president of the Orissa Eunuchs association. They were told by people to vacate the house on the grounds that their presence would have a bad impact on children and other residents, he said.
'Since then local goons and miscreants have been mounting pressure on the eunuchs to vacate the place. We have sought police help,' said Sahu who has lodged a complaint with the police.
But a senior official of the police station almost seemed to justify the other residents.
'It is government land where the houses for the eunuchs have been built. The place was used for cow-grazing and perhaps for that locals are opposing them,' he told IANS. 'We are investigating the matter.'
If the eunuchs don't get a response to the complaint from police, Sahu said he would soon move the Orissa Human rights commission for justice.
