    As Assistant Director, Business Development, Himanshu is responsible for identifying future business and technology trends, tying them to strategic telecommunication provider's customer strategies, and developing applicable solutions. He is with UTStarcom since 2005 and has recently relocated to India from the US. While in UTStarcom in US, he had led worldwide marketing for their professional services. Himanshu has over 15 years in the telecommunication marketplace experience in technology development, product management, marketing and business development. Prior to UTStarcom, he was with 3Com, where he led the development of the first SIP based Softswitch/IP Telephony products for service providers and subsequently led the market entry of Converged Communication solutions - IP Telephony, IP Messaging, IP Conferencing and Presence Solutions - to enterprises. Himanshu holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago, a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago and a Bachelor's in Electrical and Electronics from the National Institute of Technology, Surathkal.

    The softswitch runs on standard Sun servers and is based on open standards, such as the emerging Session Initiation Protocol call-control standard, and therefore, it supports third-party gateways, phones, voice-mail and contact centers, said Himanshu Sahu, senior manager of enterprise solutions at 3Com.
