Dr. Atma Sahu has been elected as the new President of IITRUAA-NAC ( Indian Institude of Technology-Roorkee Alumni Association- North America Chapter) .

Dr. Atma Ram Sahu earned a master's degree as well as a Ph.D. (1973) in Applied Mathematics from University of Roorkee (presently, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee), India.He was born, raised and educated in Roorkee, Uttaranchal, India (http://idmp.entpe.fr/stations/ind01/ind01.html).
Dr. Sahu's research work is in the area of Elastic Vibrations of Turbine Blades, and he has a large number of publications in national and international refereed journals.

In January 2001, Dr. Sahu lead a National Science Foundation U.S. delegation of ten professors from eight distinguished U.S. research Universities.This delegation stayed for three days at Mathematics Department, IITR to work on collaborative research projects plans with scientists and engineers from India, in the area of "Elastic Vibrations, Smart Structures and Their Solution Technologies."
During 1971-1980 at IITR, Dr. Sahu experienced working with Professors (retired)-- Dr. Prahlad Das, Dr. Mahesh Varma and Dr. Hari Krishna of Water Resources Development Training Center, IITR, and Dr.J.S Tomar of Mathematics Department, IITR.

After August 1980 in the U.S., Dr. Sahu has worked in various full time positions ranging from Mathematics Specialist to Associate Professor in Mathematics with four sister institutions of University System of Maryland –- University of Maryland, College Park; University of Maryland Eastern Shores, University of Maryland University College; and Coppin State College, Baltimore, MD, where presently, he is a tenured faculty as an Associate Professor in Mathematics.He has also served in many administrative positions (e.g. acting Department Chairman, mathematics program coordinator/supervisor etc.) in these academic institutions
Over the last 39 years, Dr. Sahu has lectured extensively on elastic vibrations, and educational pedagogical issues (teacher education and mathematics problem solving).Additionally, as a Maryland resident living in the vicinity of nation's capital Washington DC, he enjoys the privilege of consulting with Department of Defense, Department of Education, National Science Foundations, and other research and teaching institutions of higher education.
