   Prior to joining the firm in July 2001 as an articling student, David Ryan pursued his undergraduate studies at both Mount Royal College and the University of Calgary. Dave received his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary. David wrote a weekly political column during his undergraduate studies, and served as Associate Editor for the Alberta Law Review and received the Ken Harkness scholarship while in law school.
   
   While attending university, David served as an assistant to a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for 6 years. In this position he worked closely with the constituents, advising and assisting them with their concerns. He organized various government events, including the Calgary portion of the Heritage Trust Fund round table discussions for the Provincial Treasurer. In addition, David moderated several public forums, including a forum on National Unity.
   
   David's volunteer activities include participation in the annual March of Dimes fundraiser for the Calgary Kinsmen. He has volunteered his time for the Children's Miracle Network in support of the Calgary Children's Hospital. As well, David has participated in the junior golf program, ‘Let's Play Golf'.
   
   David has volunteered extensively in the political process, including serving as the lead advance to the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada, Jean Charest, and in 2000 he organized the Calgary operations for Stockwell Day's successful Alliance leadership bid. David has appeared in Report Magazine and the Calgary Herald, as well as appearing on the Dave Rutherford Show, CBC Newsworld, and The National. Currently, David is Past-President of a provincial Progressive Conservative Party constituency association, and a columnist with Ehgloo.com.
