Sustainable Sandhills, chaired by Walter White of Lumbee River EMC and co-chaired by Spring Lake Mayor Ethel Clark, recently hired local resident Troy Rutkofske to replicate in Moore, Harnett and Hoke counties the very successful "Air Awareness" program conducted in neighboring Cumberland County last year.
...
Troy Rutkofske can tell you more about Be Aware of Our Air Week in Moore County, provide you with an Air Quality Diary and offer additional information about the Sustainable Sandhills, the organization striving to sustain our environmental quality and economic vitality.
Troy is no stranger to our community. Besides working with the Sustainable Sandhills, he has also been working on a number of special projects with the village of Pinehurst over the past two years. He has played a key role in the creation of the Pinehurst Voluntary Tree Preservation and Xeriscaping Program, which will be formally presented to the Moore County Homebuilders Association during their next meeting in May.
He also served on the steering committee that created the Pinehurst Conservation Commission and continues to serve on the commission and its subcommittees, writing grants and working on other conservation projects.
