"In the delivery of care today, we know there are significant gaps even for people who have coverage, and it's that much worse when individuals don't have access to routine and preventive services," said Eric Russman, executive director of the Center for Affordable Consumer Health at UnitedHealth Group.Selected by the HR Policy Association as the primary provider for National Health Access, UnitedHealth Group offers the discount program, the limited medical plans and, in 15 states, the major medical-like plans.With the exception of the discount program, all are offered as fully insured group plans.The need for stable, ongoing health care is borne out by the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured, which reports that more than a third of the uninsured did not receive needed care during the previous year, and half postponed needed care.Those rates are three times higher than they are for individuals with insurance."Ultimately those problems manifest themselves in higher emergency room utilization and higher complication rates," Russman said.
