The project is co-ordinated by Andrew Russell who is the Head of Mathematics at Gosforth Central Middle School and an Associate of the NCETM.Andrew has worked with CIMT (Professor David Burghes) and the MEP Primary project for the past 10 years.
The research project also involved teachers from Gosforth Central Middle School travelling to Hungary to visit a University Practice school to watch whole class interactive teaching in practice. (The Primary MEP scheme is based on the Hungarian scheme of work.)
Funding for the project came from the NCETM and CIMT.As well as providing training CIMT provided the school with textbooks and lesson plans and paid £400 towards travel and accommodation in Hungary. The NCETM RECME research project provided a grant of £1000 which went towards the Hungary visit and supply cover to allow KS2 teachers at the school to take part in a conference on the afternoon of March the 27th.In September 2007 CFBT awarded Andrew Russell a grant to map the Primary MEP scheme of work onto the renewed NNS strategy.
