The Ruiz Family was presented with a Resolution of Support for the Police Department's January 19th Registration Drive to benefit Brandii Ruiz, daughter of Alhambra Reserve Sergeant George Ruiz (who has served as an Alhambra Reserve Police Officer for over 26 years), and the thousands of other patients being treated for life-threatening diseases for whom a marrow or blood stem cell transplant could provide a life-saving treatment.The drive was organized by the Alhambra Police Department in conjunction with the Officer Needs Help Organization. Ruiz Continues to Fight Through Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

LONG BEACH, CA-- Brandii Ruiz (Whittier), a former 400-meter hurdler on the Long Beach State track and field team, along with her family, are asking the community be a part of a Marrow Registration Drive on January 19 at Alhambra City Hall, not only to save her life, but others, in which a marrow or blood stem cell transplant could be a cure.

Ruiz competed for the 49ers in 2003 after redshirting in 2002, but had to quit the team last year after developing non-Hodgkin lymphoma.After a year of treatment, Ruiz was ready to enroll in school, only to have the disease return.

Her father, Alhambra Reserve Sergeant George Ruiz, has spearheaded a Marrow Drive, which will not only take sign ups at (626) 570-5177 or 5146 but monetary donations.

Ruiz, the daughter of Alhambra reserve police Officer George Ruiz, has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

With help from Officer George Ruiz, who responded to the call, the snake is headed for a safe home, Cetina said.
