Southside named George Ruiz as its head football coach Monday, filling a position that had been vacant for four months.

Ruiz, formerly an offensive coordinator at Poteet, has no previous head-coaching experience.

He was named the new coach by a unanimous vote at a Southside ISD board meeting.
