  Mr Christopher Rubeli, a partner of Partners Group, one of the largest fund of funds houses in Switzerland, with US$6 billion under management, believes that in the next decade, the size of the industry will rival that in Europe.He acknowledges that the past year was a "turning point" for his firm's strategy in Asia.Although the industry's record of returns has been "disappointing" and Partners Group has encountered difficulty in identifying seasoned teams in Asia, Mr Rubeli notes that the recent pace of exits and recapitalisations have reached a scale that warrants his firm establishing a presence in the industry.

  Christoph Rubeli was awarded a Master's in business administration from Insead, Fontainebleau, in 1992, as well as a Master's degree in mechanical engineering from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich in 1986. He joined UBS in 1987, and worked in the acquisition finance team in Zurich before moving to the corporate finance team in London. He subsequently set up a department for corporate and institutional finance in Paris. He was appointed regional head of structured finance for East Asia, based in Singapore. He was then promoted to area manager for South-East Asia, with responsibility for of all UBS business units in the region. Christoph Rubeli joined Partners Group in July 1998.
