  So this June is a one event month, and that event is coming up this Friday and Saturday in the form of Dancestravaganza, the brainchild of Tim Rubel, artistic director of The Theatre Expansion. Tim is all about the integration of dance into theatre, but he is also excited by dance for its own sake. As with most of the younger choreographers, Tim's concept of dance incorporates many movement forms and every year he invites a wide variety of styles to join him in putting on an exciting mix of dance.   The Theatre Expansion was started by Tim Rubel, Nicole Maynard, and several other R.I.C. Theater students in the winter of 2003.

  Tim Rubel is the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of The Theatre Expansion, formerly known as Summer Theatre Three. In 2002 he directed the companies inaugural productions of The Room and The Dreamer Examines his Pillow. Other directing credits include the world premieres of The Party and Lettuce and Magazines for Boston's Devanaughn Theatre and his own play Eggs Over Eric at Portland Stage Company's Studio Theatre. Mr. Rubel has also designed lighting for Fusionworks Dance Company and properities for New Repertory Theatre. He recently was a guest performer with Fusionworks and dances with Fusionworks II in Lincoln, Rhode Island. He is a graduate of Rhode Island College and Dean College and is currently the program director for a Theatre Arts Specialty camp at the Cranston YMCA.
