  District Manager Ricky Ross reported to the board on the state grant funding received for Monroe County water projects.
  
  The Monroe County Water District received funding for four projects:
  
  •$15,000 of a $30,000 project was allocated to upgrade five water distribution pump stations located throughout the county which will improve service to the existing customers on each of these lines;
  
  •$25,000 of a $50,000 project to provide five new chlorine booster stations located throughout the county and will improve water quality and service;
  
  ...
  Ross explained that all the equipment for the district is in good shape except for the 1987 dump truck.He said it was dangerous to drive, and requested that a new cab and chassis be purchased, using the old bed and equipment.He requested a diesel for better power and mileage.
  
  Chairman Freddie Tooley told Ross to develop specifications, and come back to the board for approval and authorization to advertise for bids

  Ross said that public employees are required to received safety certification training, noting that district employees needed to complete this as soon as possible The board authorized completion of the program by January 1.

  Ross reported that the Beech Grove Road line was completed; the Bybee Road is near completion and will be finished when the weather improves; reported easement disputes on the White Cemetery Road; and noted that the Chicken Branch Road, Dennis Bartley Road, and Little Sulphur Lick Road projects are the next on the schedule.

  Ross also stated that he thought a tract of land could be purchased within the city limits of Gamaliel for the new water tower, but had not discussed this with the engineer as yet.
  
  The bills and November minutes were approved.
  
  The next regular meeting is scheduled for January 21, at 7:00 p.m.

  Even cattle ranchers, whose cows may benefit later in the season from lush grazing pastures due to above-average rainfall, are saying "enough is enough," said Richard Ross, president of the Tahoe Cattlemen's Association, which covers Placer and Nevada counties.
  
  "We had our annual crab feed Saturday night and just about every one of the 500 ranchers and people there were complaining about the rain and the problems it's caused," Ross said.
  
  Ranchers are supplementing their cattle's diet with hay, an added expense, as well as worrying about hoof rot and the cattle not gaining the 3 pounds per day that they usually average this time of year.
  
  "It's cold, and they're out there shivering off their body fat," said Ross, a rancher himself in the outskirts of Lincoln.
