Brian Ross, president of the Westchase Community Association, said he brought the idea to the attention of association members and Westchase's two community development districts.
"It is at the infancy stages," Ross said."I think there are some positive signals."
So far, Ross said he hasn't gotten any negative response to the concept."Personally, I think it's a fantastic idea," he said.
Instead of driving miles away to a substation, Ross said residents could go to a Westchase office to discuss their concerns with a community resource deputy or fill out paperwork.
"We are like a little town, and the reality is we have day-to-day needs involving law enforcement," he said.
The law enforcement presence could help with minor incidents of graffiti and vandalism, Ross said.
"I think having the sheriff's patrol vehicle literally [parked] there onsite in the community can help minimize, if not eliminate, smaller offenses," he said.
Ross said the office space likely would be a single room with signs to point out its location and a parking space for a community resource deputy.

If such new office space were created, Ross suggested one possibility might be to allow a community resource deputy to use an empty room there.
