As PJA Board President Dr. Jay Rosenbloom explained, "The High School is a jewel of a program - small but precious - and we are sad to close it.The board reached this decision only after serious reflection, working closely with the High School's donors and taking into account changed community circumstances. The Mittleman Jewish Community Center, with which PJA shares a building and a campus, has faced serious financial difficulties over the past year.Much of our community's resources will be necessarily devoted to remedying that situation to create a stable home for the MJCC and the PJA preschool through 8th grade program."

Rosenbloom stressed that the circumstances were very different from when the board voted 2 ½ years ago to start the high school.
    ...
The board expressed its gratitude to donors Jay and Diane Zidell and Steve "Rosy" Rosenberg and Ellen Lippman.
    ...
We only wish that community circumstances were different so that they could see their investment bear full fruit," said Rosenbloom.
