   The two colleges signed a memorandum of understanding in which FSC would honor credits from first-year computer programming classes if they are taken at Mass Bay, said Peter Rosenbaum, a computer science professor at FSC.
   
   "We just signed an agreement where the first two courses would be the same at both colleges," Rosenbaum said. "We're pretty happy about that."
   
   Both schools will use the same books and the courses will cover the same material, Rosenbaum said.
   
   "Any student who transfers over will know all the same things, because the courses at Mass Bay are exactly the same as courses at Framingham State," Rosenbaum said.
   
   A change in computer programming languages at FSC enabled the formation of the partnership. Until this year, Rosenbaum said, the college used the C++ language but will begin teaching Java, the same one taught at Mass Bay.
   
   The change will be a good one for other reasons, he said.
   
   "Java is somewhat easier, not easy, but easier," Rosenbaum said.

   Rosenbaum said the two schools hope to expand their partnership.
   
   "We are working on at adding at least two more courses, that students are likely to take in their second year," Rosenbaum said.
