Rosen is no stranger to success, having led Horizon to an undefeated District 2-4A season in 2005 and being named coach of the year in New Mexico for 2007.

They are coached by Al Rosen, one of the more decorated high school coaches in El Paso and New Mexico, and assisted by Yoshiki Nakamoto, one of club volleyball's staunchest supporters.

Rosen, a volleyball veteran, is fresh off Coach of the Year honors from the recent 2007 volleyball season in New Mexico and also was the El Paso Times Coach of the Year in 2005 while leading Horizon High School to an undefeated district season.He also played collegiate volleyball at the University of Hawaii while winning two high school all-state titles on the islands.

"Liz went up there and got to play with some of the other team members and she did really good," Gadsden head coach Al Rosen said.

"They look big, pretty solid at the net," Horizon coach Al Rosen said of the Whitefaces."But we've been smaller than everyone.That's nothing new."

Asked if his team was satisfied with making the playoffs, Rosen said, "They want more.

"In a way I thought the pressure was off when we clinched district (Friday), but I realized that Del Valle would be a great challenge," Horizon coach Al Rosen said.

"We had some serving problems today, and that (serving) has been what's helped win many of our games," Horizon coach Al Rosen said.

Rosen was disappointed with the loss but realized that all streaks come to an end.

"I tip my hat to them.They were relentless," said Rosen, whose team dropped to 11-1.

Horizon head coach Al Rosen let out a sigh of relief following the win after having spent most of the match shaking and hanging his head.

"This was very nerve racking," he said.

The Panthers will have a new coach in Al Rosen as they try to get back to the 5A state playoffs for the second straight season.
