After that, Rose returned to Green Bay and really went to work.Over the next 57 years, he headed Associated Bank, served on the School Board, the water commission, the sewerage commission and the redevelopment authority.He was involved in the building of a water pipeline from Lake Michigan and of the Don A. Tilleman Bridge over the Fox River on Mason Street.
He worked with such organizations as the Salvation Army, the YMCA, the American Foundation of Counseling Services and Bellin Hospital.
He is also credited with bringing the University of Wisconsin to Green Bay.

Vanderkelen said that when Rose felt he was ready to become a bank president, Rose's father was reluctant to give up the reins of Kellogg-Citizens National Bank.So Rose got himself hired as president of 1st National Bank in Appleton instead.

In his role as banker, Rose has been credited with financing some of Green Bay's most significant businesses, including Schreiber Foods, Green Bay Packaging and ShopKo Stores Inc.
