   William Bohlen was named superintendent of public works and Victor Rose was named superintendent of utility services.

   Rose, of Battle Creek, will oversee utilities and support services.His first day on the job will be Dec. 13, making $61,000 annually.
   
   City Council members interviewed seven men, including four internal candidates, last month for the two positions.The finalists were announced at Monday's council meeting, even though everyone wasn't in agreement.
   
   The vote to hire Bohlen and Rose was 4-2, with council members Valerie Brady and Thomas Murphy dissenting.

   Rose is currently unemployed because of downsizing at Kalamazoo-based Conestoga-Rovers and Associates, where he worked for 17 months as the construction operations manager.
   
   Before that, he worked for four years as the director of public works for Allegan and nearly 25 years with the Calhoun County Road Commission.He also is a licensed builder.
   
   Rose graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1973.While having taken a variety of courses over the years at various colleges, he has no degree.
   
   Facing a two-hour drive each way to work, Rose said he intends to relocate very quickly to the Downriver area.
