George's other children were Otto Roland and Clara (who married a Mr. Stafford).Born in Manchester in 1863, Otto graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary, then spent two years teaching school before going, in 1887, to Bennington as an apprentice at the Bennington Banner under Charles Pierce.

There Otto learned the printing trade and went on to a job in commercial printing in New York in the firm of Henry J. Rolands, his uncle.
