Virginia Robles-VillalbaBorn and raised in the inner city projects of New York City, Virginia's artistic abilities were noticed at a very early age and it was a means of escape both on mental and physical levels.After her divorce in 1981, she decided to pursue her dream of an art career and gradÂuated in 1986 with a B.A. in Fine Arts with honors from George Washington University.Virginia also is an accomplished graphic designer.She states, "The works of ancient peoples are a testament to human creativity, ability and endurance.With simple tools, great beauty was created."Her work depicts and celebrates the diversity of life's experiences and the ongoing everyday human drama.Exploring the world of myth and pre-Columbian symbolism, she fuses modern computer graphics with the ancient petroglyphs.In 2002, she was an Artist-in-Residence, Mendocino Art Center, Mendocino, California and has her exhibited her work in Argentina, Arizona, California, Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, California, New York, and Missouri.Her work has been on display at the United Nations, the Smithsonian Institution and the Ned Hatathli Museum, DinĂ© College in Tsaile, Arizona.In 2007, Virginia displayed her work at the American Museum of Natural History's Grand Gallery in conjunction with exhibition, "Gold", that highlighted various indigenous communities linked with pre-Columbian gold traditions.
