Mike Robison of Haley and Aldrich is the resident engineer. The project consists of two tunnels in railroad and freeways; and the 510 ft. long, 12 ft. inner-diameter, steel-lined Davidson Avenue Tunnel to interface with a new pump station. On either side of the undercrossing tunnel, the concrete diaphragm walls, composed of soldier piles and tremie concrete (SPTC), provide both the temporary and permanent walls for the T/S structures.A relatively thin cast-in-place concrete box is being constructed inside the SPTC walls. The invert of the new T/S structures and tunnels varies from 41 ft. to 47 ft. below existing grade, substantially deeper than any adjacent structures.
Construction also includes diverting existing sewer flows, constructing other sewers and installing a 30 in. diameter flushing pipe for the entire length of the contract.
