The issue of where the state's ferries should be parked and maintained was raised for discussion Wednesday by Merrill Robison, a member of the Economic Council and formerly of the Bainbridge Island City Council, who pointed out that a consultant hired by the state said the state would save money by moving some or all of the ferry operations out of Eagle Harbor to Seattle.Some facilities could be moved to the former Todd or Lockheed shipyards or to the Port of Seattle's Terminal 91, Robison said, citing a study done by KPFF Consulting Engineers in 2002.
