    The man is yet to be identified but according to Superintendent Maurice Robinson, Commanding Officer for St James, his men responded to reports of heavily armed thugs in the Paradise Norwood area.

    He says when the police arrived, they were greeted by a hail of bullets and a shoot-out ensued.

    When the shooting subsided, one man was found dead clutching a home-made high-powered rifle containing three 12 gauge cartridges. Superintendent Robinson says the man was clad in camouflage body armour.

    Superintendent Maurice Robinson, who took the reins in St. James less than two months ago, says major operations have been underway, and will intensify with assistance from the Jamaica Defense Force.

    Maurice Robinson, a manager at a nearby Caribou Coffee, 1425 Grandview Ave., knows the Starbucks regulars and said he hopes to see more of them at his store.
