The State Records Office welcomes Maureen Robinson as Acting Director from 16 December 2002.With Chris Coggin's impending retirement, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet canvassed the Senior Executive Service for someone to fill the position until the advertising and selection process could be completed.Maureen Robinson was the successful applicant and was appointed for the duration (up to 6 months), on secondment from the Department of Land Administration where she was a Manager with the Information Coordination Branch.
Prior to this, Maureen had been the Director of Corporate and Business Services at the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority in Kings Park for nearly two years and had previously held Corporate Service or Corporate Development Manager positions in several public sector agencies.Since 1990, Maureen has had executive level responsibility for information management - including records management, libraries and information technology.
In the Waterways Commission, Office of Water Regulation and Women's Policy Office Maureen undertook major records management reviews.She implemented improved records management procedures and systems to improve the agencies' responsiveness to their customers.When the Water Industry Restructure occurred, with the Water Authority being corporatised and the new Water and Rivers Commission being formed, Maureen led a project team to establish the records management services for the new Commission.When the State Records Bill was in its early form, Maureen worked with records management consultants to develop a Recordkeeping Plan in preparation for the new legislation.
Maureen's career in the public sector has been extensive and her experience varied, as has her academic history.Her initial Arts degree in Psychology and English was followed by Postgraduate Diplomas in Education and Human Resources Management, after which Maureen completed a Master of Business specialising in Information Management and Public Administration.
Following Chris Coggin's wonderful achievements, Maureen is conscious that there are big shoes to fill as Director: State Records and is grateful that the Commission, Chris and the staff of the Office have positioned it well to take on the challenges of the State Records Act into the future.
