Maureen K. Robinson is a consultant and speaker on topics relating to the leadership, governance and management of the nonprofit sector.In her work with nonprofit organizations, she focuses on board and organizational development, executive director coaching, and strategic planning.She is the author of Nonprofit Boards that Work: The End of One-Size-Fits-All Governance, published by John Wiley & Sons.
Maureen Robinson founded the education program of the National Center for Nonprofit Boards (now called BoardSource).During her eight-year tenure, she brought information, ideas and services to a broad cross-section of nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and abroad about the value of governance and its role in strengthening the effectiveness of the independent, nongovernmental sector.
Prior to joining the National Center for Nonprofit Boards, Maureen held a variety of positions in the museum field.She was the director of legislative affairs at the American Association of Museums, and served in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Museums at the Smithsonian Institution, where she conducted executive-level searches and managed special projects.
In addition to her most recent book, Maureen is the author of Developing the Nonprofit Board: Strategies for Educating and Motivating Board Members and The Chief Executive's Role in Developing the Nonprofit Board, both published by the National Center for Nonprofit Boards (BoardSource).She writes regularly about current topics in nonprofit governance, leadership and management and is a columnist for the magazine, Contributions.
