Amy Robinson of Leesburg has been named Darton College's Academic Recognition Student for 2003.Each college in the University System of Georgia annually selects one student to honor for their academic achievements.
Ms. Robinson was chosen for this honor based on her academic achievements, volunteer work, and campus activities.She plans to graduate in May with an associate's degree in computer science and to eventually earn a master's in computer science.
According to one of Ms. Robinson's professors, Assistant Mathematics Professor Jennifer Strickland, "Amy is the kind of student a teacher dreams ofÂhardworking, intelligent, and extremely motivated.

Of her experience as a student at Darton, Ms. Robinson said, "Attending Darton College has been one of the best decisions of my life."
She is secretary of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and is a Supplemental Instruction Leader.She played on the Darton Lady Cavaliers soccer team during her first year at Darton.
Ms. Robinson has volunteered with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and Darton's annual regional math tournament.She does volunteer work each week for the Regional Youth Detention Center.
As the Academic Recognition Student from Darton College, Ms. Robinson's name will be read on the floor of the Georgia General Assembly and entered into the official record.She will be presented with a declaration at Darton's Honors Program on April 24.
