Patrick is as country as cornbread!
He first began to sing in church at the age of four. He remembers not being too terribly excited about performing. But between a persistent piano player and a grandmother, a young man does not have much of a choice. One Sunday morning, he was finally persuaded to sing "He's Still Working On Me," simply to make everyone happy. He fell in love with singing, right then and there. Growing up, other distractions kept him from developing this talent. Patrick took an interest in baseball, football and driving his parents crazy while learning to play the drums. He did, however, keep singing on the back burner while his childhood swept by. In high school, he found a new joy and work effort that came with singing. He listened to his choir teacher and learned that singing well required one to sit up straight, annunciate the words, and practice, practice, practice! After graduation, he attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. While at Lee, he was very fortunate to travel with Danny Murray and the Voices of Lee, a sixteen member a cappella ensemble. This single experience changed the entire way he viewed music and ministry.
Patrick is the newest vocal member of DayOne, joining in May, 2001. He knew Garth and Shelly from past Voices of Lee events, but was a little nervous about leaving his life behind at Lee and joining these strangers on the road. But when God says "Go," one better go, and he did! DayOne is now more than just his friends, they are his family. He is thrilled to wake up every day and first do what he loves to do, and second what God called him to do.
