Ed Robertson, Jr. Reporting for Duty
Formerly an Officer in the U.S. Navy for nine years, in the Navy Reserve for ten years and presently a Commander.Ed Robertson now also reports for duty as a Certified Public Accountant, certified in business valuation analysis. In the Navy, one of his assignments was in Missiles, supervising and managing staffs in the operation and maintenance of four missile systems and two radar systems, he also was the Damage Control Assistant, in charge of the ship's fire department. He was a Project Officer guiding multiple combinations of weapons systems through the nuclear weapon safety study process, and Chief Engineer of a Destroyer.Would anyone doubt that he can find his way though a corporate audit or small business accounting system? Is he still doing damage control?Ed earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration in Accounting from the Illinois Institute of Technology and gained the degree of Master of Business Administration in Finance from Webster University .
Ed has history with the Rotary Club, as well.In the fall of 1998, he was selected to participate in a Rotary group study exchange between District 6670 in SW Ohio and District 1250 in Southern England . This exchange provides an opportunity for young professionals between 25-40 years of age to visit a host country and to learn about that country's traditions and institutions, while simultaneously promoting their home region. He also had a chance to observe how one's profession is practiced abroad and this experience allowed him the development of many personal and professional relationships. For five weeks, Ed lived in Great Britain, and nearly every day was spent with a Rotary Club, and one day a week was spent with a professional in his (or similar) line of business. He was able to assist in the preparation of British tax returns and had the opportunity to offer IT system selection advice and discussed accounting issues and business models with accountants at three different firms.Ed says he learned about the ways that the Rotary Club in Great Britain enriches the lives of non-Rotarians there and abroad, and they do so with little fanfare or publicity, as they do everywhere.
