The last witness Monday, Wally Roberts, testified that Hudson's body was found just to one side of a door to Apt. C at 707 Eastgate.Roberts is an investigator for the Kansas State Fire Marshal's office. He said Hudson had fallen from the second floor. Her son's body was found nearby.
Roberts described a number of aerial photographs and a video tape, showing damage done by the explosion and fire. The building had been a two-story frame structure with five apartments.
Roberts said the explosion in Apt. B, which was next to the Hudson apartment and where the sister of Dixon's girlfriend lived, blew debris as far as 40 to 50 yards from 707 Eastgate. The apartment exploded and burned at about 9 a.m. on July 29, 2001.
A screen door was blown west almost to another apartment building, a front door was found in a yard to the west, and debris caused "substantial damage" to the apartment building to the east, pocking the wall and punching holes into an apartment wall.A car parked in the lot appeared to have some type of object driven through the right front fender.
