The Thanks of the Institution inscribed on Vellum was accorded to crew member Peter Roberts who was at the helm of the D class lifeboat Blue Peter IV in recognition of his skill and seamanship when the lifeboat rescued a surfboarder and saved his board as he was being washed out to sea in gale force winds and rough seas on 28 October 1996.
Senior Helmsman Paul Kimberley received Letters of Thanks from both the Chief Executive of the RNLI and the Chief Medical Advisor for his skill and determination in assisting with the evacuation by helicopter of 3 injured climbers who had fallen from the cliffs near St. Agnes Head on 13 May 2000.
