Citrus grower-turned-developer Nat Roberts said the latest census numbers don't scare him away from plans to push for almost 3,000 new homes in Loxahatchee.
The "party" that was the South Florida building boom may have subsided, but the buyers will return, said Roberts, managing partner of Callery-Judge Grove.
"This is the hangover.It doesn't mean you don't have a beer the next time you go out," Roberts said.
Florida taxes and home prices are still a better deal than in the Northeast and other more expensive parts of the country, Roberts said.
Looking ahead 15 to 20 years, Florida real estate development remains a lucrative proposition — despite the last few years.
"I think it's a down cycle on an upwardly increasing trend line," Roberts said. -
