Rachel Weaver Rivera, an artist and educator, has an M.F.A. in painting from the School of Art at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a B.F.A. from the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois, Champaign.

Rachel is owner of Imagine Art Studio.She has over fifteen years teaching experience in a variety of educational settings including The San Jose Public Schools residency program, Chicago Commons Human Service Agency, The Evanston Art Center, Triton College, and Chicago Children's Museum.

Rachel's work with children has been inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach.She is a frequent presenter on children's visual communication and designing educational spaces that promote creativity.

In conjunction with the artXposium 2.0, the museum's September children's craft program is from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept 21, at 103 W. Washington St. Art educator Rachel Weaver Rivera of Imagine Art Studio provides four art projects for children of all ages.

Sunday activities at 103 W. Washington St. include a networking brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and interactive art experiences of craft projects led by art educator Rachel Weaver Rivera of Imagine Art Studio from noon to 4 p.m.

Featured artists are Juan Compean, Ricardo Compean, Alejandro Mazon, Rachel Weaver Rivera, Jorge Rojas, Ingrida Sljuviene and Philip Weibler.

Rachel's art is influenced by her love of on-site landscape painting, animals, a collection of folk art, and her work teaching studio art to children.Rachel's images combine personal narrative with exploration of how significant life change transforms perception on psychological and spiritual levels.

Most recently, Rachel has given presentations on children's learning through the arts at The Chicago and Ohio Associations for the Education of Young Children, The Evanston and Hyde Park Art Centers, and The Erikson Institute.Rachel is the owner of Imagine Art Studio in Clarendon Hills, IL which offers art instruction for all ages and teacher training.You may contact her at (773) 203-6659.
