Jordan Rivas

Jordan Rivas is slated to be the main instructor in Baytown . The Houston native is a member of Elite's Pro MMA team and captured the silver medal at this year's Pan American Games as well as a bronze medal in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Championships.

Rivas began training in mixed martial arts seven years ago and has won 70 Jiu-Jitsu matches.

Jordan was born and raised in Houston , TX and has enjoyed competing since an early age.Starting in baseball at the age of six, he played on league teams until he was fifteen.Jordan 's passion for baseball earned him a spot on the all-star team year after year, but multiple injuries caused his love for the game to fade.After a long leave from sports Jordan 's, need for competition lead him to become active in college intramurals and weight lifting.

While attending the American University in Washington , DC., Jordan was invited by friends (many of who were ex-wrestlers) to watch old UFC videos.The old UFC videos sparked Jordan 's interest in martial arts, and led him to search for nearby Thai boxing schools.Jordan found his way to the toughest Martial Arts School in the Washington area, the Yamasaki Academy . It was here that he joined in both his first BJJ and Thai boxing classes.After his first class Jordan knew that Martial Arts was the pastime for him, and he was hooked!He trained everyday with Navy SEAL's, Marines, Army Rangers and other elite fighting groups.Jordan then decided to move back to his hometown of Houston, TX to be closer to his friends and family.

After winning many city, state and local titles, Jordan decided to test his skills on a World stage.He recently won a silver medal at the Pan American Games, and a bronze medal at the 2007 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Championships, making him the most decorated competitor in Texas for 2007!Jordan 's training in Thai Boxing, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, and Boxing all blended together have allowed him to have a distinct advantage over all of his competitors.Jordan 's success both in and out of the ring has been a direct result of his hard work ethic combined with his aggressive nature and his constant strive for perfection.

Elite Mixed Martial Arts has been a steady sanctuary in Jordan 's life.Jordan 's brother "Shrek" and many of his closest friends train with him at Elite.Jordan says the greatest thing that has happened to him since joining Elite is meeting his wife "Aliana!"They met in a Kickboxing class and now have a son, "Thales" who is well on his way to becoming one of Elites Little Ninjas!

You can find Jordan just about every day teaching Martial Arts at Elite Mixed Martial Art's Baytown Location.Currently he teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA, Fight Fit and Kickboxing.Jordan 's passion for martial arts along with his patience, technical knowledge and laid back demeanor make him an excellent instructor, training partner and friend.The few hours Jordan is not on the mat, he can be found spending time with his family or at the University of Houston where he is currently a Senior, earning his Accounting Degree at the Bauer School of Business.

Jordan Rivas is a 4th year student at The University of Houston and is the Lead Instructor for Elite MMA in Baytown, TX. Jordan holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Eric Williams & Hai Nguyen.
