John is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association , and is active in the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the Austin Young Lawyers Association.He has participated in such activities as the People's Law School , National Mock Trial Competition , as well as various Pro Bono clinics.In 1996 , John was honored as the Outstanding Young Lawyer for Midland County and in 1995 received the West Texas Legal Services Outstanding Volunteer Award.

Alert to Nursing Homes and other providers of potential sanctions and penalties under the Medicaid Fraud Prevention ActIn September of 1995 , the Texas Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act , as enacted by the 74th Texas Legislature , went into effect.The Act , found in Chapter 36 of the Texas Human Resources Code , seeks to address and punish those individuals and entities , participating in the Medicaid program , found to have defrauded the State Medicaid program.
