    The MWD has about 112 homes near the Colorado River for district employees who work in the California desert, said Eddie Rigdon, group manager of water system operations.

    Eddie RigdonEddie Rigdon is a 40-year veteran of the Metropolitan Water District.He began with the District on July 1, 1965 as a utility worker at the Orange County Reservoir.He worked in various other positions ranging from pipeline maintenance to patrolman to chief system operator until he was promoted in 1985 to assistant superintendent at Weymouth's Treatment Plant and then to branch manager of the Diemer Treatment Plant in 1992.In 1999, he was promoted to assistant group manager of Water System Operations.

    In December 2003, Rigdon reported directly to the CEO for the development of recreation for Diamond Valley Lake and land related issues.Rigdon worked very closely with city officials, county staff, and legislative staff.In December 2005, Rigdon was named Group Manager of Water System Operations.In this position, Rigdon leads four sections: operations support services, power/systems operations, treatment/distribution, and water quality monitoring.

    He earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Claremont College and holds certification in Treatment Grade 5 and Distribution Grade 5.Rigdon also holds a teaching credential for the State of California.

    Rigdon served as a two-term president for six years for the Management and Professional Employee's Association.He served as chairman of the Water Budget for the State Water Contractors and is currently the president of the Joint Powers Association for the State Water Contractors and is a lifetime member of the American Water Works Association.He is also currently serving as Utility Commissioner for the City of Pasadena.
