SGN Team Manager David Richardson said: "We have liaised closely with South Lanarkshire Council and will continue to do so throughout the project to ensure our work remains on schedule and has minimal impact on local events like Summerfest. All shops and businesses will be open for business as usual and we will be doing everything possible to reduce disruption for local road-users, businesses and residents.

He added: "We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks however this is a major engineering project.
