Amy Rice.Amy is a co-teacher in the Lower Elementary classroom and is the coach to the Quest cross country and track and field teams.In addition to being an accompished Montessori educator, Amy is the product of Montessori elementary and middle school education.She was a student at the Witby School through grade 8.Amy helped to found Windwept Montessori School in Peacedale, RI in 2004 where she taught in the Primary and Transition program.Before teaching at Windswept, she taught in the Primary and Transition programs at South County Montessori School for fifteen years.Amy holds a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Rhode Island where she earned, and has kept current, her RI Elementary (K- 6) Teaching Certification.She was awarded the AMS Montessori Teacher Certification in Early childhood from the New England Montessori Teacher Education Center in 1995.In addition, Amy is trained and certified in the Orton Gillingham Therapy for Specific Reading Disability.Since 1996, Amy Rice has been on the faculty of the New England Montessori Teacher Education Center (NEMTEC).Amy completed the first of a two summer long Lower Elementary Montessori training program in 2008.In addition to her passion for teaching, Amy is a world renowned triathlete.She has competed as a member of the US Triathlon Team and recently placed 4th in her division at the Ironman Hawaii World Triathlon Championship.She has a daughter at Quest.
