Amy Rice, who is the events coordinator for the chamber, said she hopes the celebration gives people a reason to get out and have fun at a chilly time of year when it is tempting to just curl up in the comfort of our own home.
"We want it to get people out of their houses and spending time downtown," said Rice of the festivities, which runs until Feb. 18."We hope that is generates business for our chamber members in addition to offering great family events."
Upcoming weekends will be filled with popular events like the outdoor mixed volleyball tournament on Feb. 11 and the fishing contest, lawn mower races and turkey bowling on Feb. 17 and 18.An event that always attracts a good crowd, according to Rice, was this weekends curling bonspiel on Friday and Saturday.
