Having started out at the school as a teacher, Maria worked her way up to Assistant Principal/Dean of Studies, charged with curriculum and teacher supervision and evaluation.In this role she embraced technology as part of her responsibilities.When St. Bernard High School and St. Bernard Elementary School consolidated, she participated in oversight of curriculum and instruction of the PreK to Grade 12 program.She handled inservice programs in technology for faculty, workshops in effective integration of Internet technologies into the curriculum and led workshops on special topics related to Internet use for elementary through high school educators.

Maria also worked as the Academic Technology Coordinator for San Francisco University High School in San Francisco.In this capacity, Maria was charged with the support of both faculty and students in the use and integration of technology into the curriculum.She oversaw the school computer labs, provided guidance with online course environments, actively taught faculty, staff, and students in the use of various applications and technological tools, coordinated with the library staff to identify, present and evaluate technology-based resources and identified and implemented systems, hardware and software which would positively impact faculty and student use of technology.

Since 2001, Maria has been working with Catholic School Management providing consultative guidance in academic and technology related areas.She has worked with schools in technology planning, development of research skills curriculums, and implementation of curriculum mapping.She currently coordinates CSM's Institutional Assessment services.

Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire and a Masters of Science in Curriculum, Instruction and Technology from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.Maria also holds California Clear Single Subject Teaching Credentials in Art and Spanish.

CSM President Richard J. Burke is pleased to announce the promotion of Maria J. Ribera to Director of Assessment, Academic and Technology Services.

In her new position, Maria will oversee and coordinate consultative guidance in the areas of academic affairs including; curriculum audits, curriculum planning, technology planning, the integration of technology into the teaching/learning process and the training and mentoring of Catholic school educators and administrators in these areas.Additionally, Maria will coordinate CSM's flagship service , institutional assessments and limited institutional assessments.

A gifted educator and consultant, Maria has served Catholic School Management and dozens of the clients since 2001.In her new position, Maria joins CSM Director of Institutional Advancement Services Steven J. Virgadamo in helping to coordinate consulting services for well over 200 clients on an annual basis.

"Online courses are the only way that some people can continue their education due to geographical or time constraints," says Maria Ribera, the academic technology coordinator at University High School in Florida who recently completed an online graduate program offered by Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (http://www.nova.edu/).

Ribera claims that she found a better job in teaching thanks to her successful completion of the GTEP (Graduate Teacher Education Program) offered by the school.
