Sandie Rhodes

At the July 10 Redondo Beach City Council meeting, an award was presented to Sandie Rhodes for her work on behalf of the Redondo Beach Dog Park.The award presentation credited Rhodes with creating the Redondo Beach Dog Park and its supporting organization, The Friends of the Redondo Beach Dog Park.

Although Rhodes has been an invaluable asset to the dog park and certainly to The Friends of the Redondo Beach Dog Park, Inc., she was not involved in the original organization and creation of the park.

Rhodes joined our organization in mid-1993, three months before the actual trial opening of the park and one and a half years after the efforts to create the park began.In no way do I mean to discount anything Rhodes has done; her expertise in fund-raising and marketing has been indispensable to the continued operations of the dog park.She certainly has left an indelible mark in her organizational activities as president of "Friends" and, more recently as chair of the organization.However, she did not organize the creation of the park, nor did she have anything to do with the initial acceptance and development of the park plans.
