Sam Rhodes, spokesman for the East Houston chapter of the Texas Federation of Teachers, encouraged his organization members to do the same.

"Those are waters you should talk about with the attorney before you tread," Rhodes said."That's some dicey territory, and, as you can see in Pasadena, that water has filled with sharks."

Rhodes said the federation advises its teachers to lobby, write letters and contact legislators.
