The arts have a unique way of displaying the hearts of nations and synthesizing understanding , and we are pleased that UHCL is the catalyst of this collaboration among Slovakia , Mexico and the United States , says Rhodeback. We are constantly exploring new concepts for international relationships and recent agreements with universities in India and Vietnam increase exchange opportunities for students and faculty..

Each semester , UHCL students have the opportunity to participate in the daily activities of cultures throughout Europe , Asia , Mexico , South America , India and the Middle East.

A casual remark by 1995 MBA alumnus Ash Menon to Jerry Rhodeback , UHCL executive director for international initiatives , led to the formation of Lake College of Computer Science and Management in Chennai , India. The first business administration and computer science classes are now in session at the two-year college.
I broached the subject of starting a university with Jerry at my graduation ceremony in Dubai United Arab Emirates in 1995 , says Menon , Clear Lake resident , software developer and consultant for the medical industry.I transferred to UHCL for my last two years of college and had such a great experience in the program that I felt it should be duplicated in India..
Largely responsible for the project's development , Menon supervised the process , which led to the establishment of the first academic institution of its kind in India.Lake College's development and construction costs were underwritten largely by Menon's father , Indian businessman T. Mohanchandran.
Expanding efforts to establish new UHCL collaborations , Rhodeback and Van Tran , UHCL professor of management information systems , met with representatives of Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City in July to establish UHCL's innovative graduate transfer program.
