It's key to know the subject well to parody it properly," said OSP director Sue Ellen Reiman.
    ...
Reiman handpicked the three actors for the show, and said the play requires performers with both the experience and stage chops to deal with the frantic pace and physical movement while relating to the audience.
    ...
Reiman, who is also a member of OKC improv troupe Everybody and Their Dog, used her experience to help the actors refine some of their crazier ideas for the stage.

Reiman had a different take on her approach.

"We're attempting a somber and studied look at the art and themes that Shakespeare used and how they affect us today," she said.

"We always try to open our season with something really popular," said Sue Ellen Reiman, the organization's managing director.
    ...
Reiman said having a local theater devoted to presenting the works of Shakespeare speaks well of a community, particularly in terms of literacy.Shakespeare's language is filled with allusions, metaphors, imagery and other literary devices, many of which can be daunting to contemporary audiences.

"If you miss a word now and then, you can pretty much figure out the meaning from how it is used in context," Reiman said.
    ...
"We've been doing residencies for about 15 years," Reiman said.

"With all the different productions of this classic holiday story being performed in the area, our company felt that we could capitalize on the compactness of our set, the size of our acting company and the length of the production in order to make it attractive for statewide touring," stated Managing Director Sue Ellen Reiman.

"We feel we've answered that question now," said OSP managing director Sue Ellen Reiman, in reference to the Dec. 12 fire that destroyed the Jack O'Meara Ampitheater where the company performs each summer.

Since that time, OSP has raised $12,859.09, approximately one-third of the estimated $30,000 needed to rebuild the stage. With the money currently raised, there is almost enough to build a bare minimum platform, which Reiman estimated between $15,000 and $20,000.

In order to meet their goal of having a stage ready for the 2002 summer season, OSP will host a "Variety Show Fund-raiser," 7 p.m. Sunday at Stage Center, 400 W. Sheridan, featuring a diverse cast of actors from the Pollard Theatre, Synchronicity Theatre, Oklahoma Children's Theatre, Carpenter Square Theatre and Lyric Theatre.OSP members appearing in the show include Anne Lower, Don Shirley, Jason Burkhart, Hal Kohlman, Erin Anderson, Shane McClure and Reiman.
    ...
"We're not going to turn anybody away," said Reiman."If you've got $25, great. If you can do $15, great. If not, give us what you've got."

For more information, call OSP at 340-1222.
