Vanessa Schneider and Jennifer (Kissinger) Reed, both LC graduates and former editors-in-chief on this newspaper, The Challenge, have recently made accomplishments in the field of journalism.

Reed (1995) is the new managing editor of The Catholic Witness, the Catholic newspaper of the Harrisburg Diocese, and Schneider (2003) a junior at Ithaca College, is one of about 39 college students nationwide chosen by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) to get a summer internship at a major magazine.

Reed had been an English Communications major in college and began writing for The Witness in 1999, where she spent six and a half years as a reporter.She said, "The biggest difference between The Witness and The Challenge is that I have to be aware of events in the 15 counties of the Diocese
of Harrisburg, as opposed to events that go on within the (small) Lebanon Catholic community," but she said that working on The Challenge "definitely" helped to get her where she is today.Reed said she was inspired to be a journalist by "a combination of my love of writing and the encouragement I received from Frau (Vojtko) and several of my English professors."Miss Gail Vojtko, her high school advisor, said "there were only 2 editors on the paper at the time, and I pushed an awful lot of work on Jen.
